Episode 1: I Am Kuroko

Newcomers Taiga Kagami and Tetsuya Kuroko join their school’s basketball team, where Kuroko’s lackluster one-on-one skills fail to impress Kagami. Despite this, Kagami ambitiously vows to become Japan’s top basketball player. Kuroko counters, asserting Kagami can’t achieve this goal solo but offers to support him as his “shadow,” complementing Kagami’s “light.”

During the game against Shutoku, Midorima is substituted out after just 5 minutes to save his energy for the grand final. Kagami receives his third foul, and Tsugawa from Seiho makes another careless remark, further motivating Kuroko. The third quarter ends in a tie, with both teams scoring 19 points each.
